Crydom Halbleiterrelais (SSRs) sind weit verbreitet auf dem Gebiet der Motorsteuerung - für die verschiedensten Motortypen. In Wechselstrommotoren werden sie für die Drehzahlregelung, die Richtungsumkehr, den Motorstart, das Sanftanlassen und -stoppen wie auch als Startschalter für ein- und dreiphasige Motoren eingesetzt.
Crydom SSRs werden auch für die Steuerung von Gleichstrommotoren verwendet. Gleichstromrelais können als Schalter für die Richtungsumkehr oder (mit Pulsweitenmodulation) für die Drehzahlregelung von Gleichstrommotoren eingesetzt werden.
