We are pleased to announce the availability of the second Crydom technical video.   Under the already known concept of Crydom TechLab, episode 2 of this series of videos is now available and provides useful information for solid state relay and contactor users.  TechLab Episode 2 shows how to correctly install a panel mounted solid state relay or contactor to a panel or heat sink focusing on some basic rules to ensure their reliability.

The new Selector for AC Motors is now available at the Crydom website.  Intended to assist Distributors and Customers in matching a solid state relay or contactor to single-phase and three-phase motors, this web based tool is focused on using relevant ratings from the motor load to select a Crydom part number with suitable UL ratings.

Features of the Selector for AC Motors include:

• Navigation through the tool using intuitive menus
• A list of selected Crydom part numbers is suggested after entering Operating Voltage and Horse Power Ratings for the motor under application

Company and technical information formerly available in the Crydom website only in English is now available for Chinese speakers. Access to the expanded Crydom Chinese website can be done via the global domain name www.crydom.com or through the Crydom China domain name www.crydom.cn.

Web tools such as the Crydom On-line Catalog, Parametric Search, Cross-Reference and Check Stock are also available in Chinese to facilitate visitors the selection and purchase of Crydom products. The new Chinese website compiles technical documents such as White Papers from our company's technical reservoir as well as information about safety and environmental standards and approvals for Crydom products.

The Crydom Chinese website will continue to be expanded in the following months to include detailed product specifications of Crydom products. We are pleased to present the new Crydom Sample Boxes. The new sample boxes were specially designed to provide maximum level of protection to product samples thanks to their custom foam inserts that hold the samples safely in place during their shipping and handling. Also, the new sample box is intended to facilitate the identification of samples when shipped directly to customers making it easier for them to differentiate them from regular product shipments.

The new sample boxes are part of Crydom’s commitment to the premium positioning of the Crydom brand and products.

As part of our ongoing program of product line maintenance Crydom has updated its Thermal Pads offer. Thermal pads TP01 and TP03 will be declared as "Obsolete" and will become unavailable effective April 1st. HSP-2 and the new HSP-5 will replace the obsoleted thermal pads (TP01 and TP03) and will provide single phase and 3 phase footprints respectively. HSP-2 and HSP-5 also include adhesive on one side.

The replacement of TP01 with HSP-2 will also effect relays that are sold with thermal pad attached (H option) and assemblies that include the use of thermal pads. Currently available thermal pads HSP-1 and HSP-3 will continue to be part of the standard offer and provide an alternative for customers that prefer non-adhesive thermal pads.

As part of our ongoing effort to provide better support to our Customers we are pleased to announce the availability of CAD drawings of Crydom products at the Crydom website. The new CAD Drawings section, which can be found in the Tech Library drop down menu, can also be accessed following a direct link in the Quick Links bar present to the right of every page of the Crydom website. The new section gathers drawings in 3 different file formats such as PDF, DWG and ACIS (SAT) for customer's convenience and assistance while integrating Crydom components into their applications.

Links to specific CAD Drawings can also be found next to the Spec Document link while searching a part number in our on-line catalog to make customer's searches more efficient. No registration is needed to download CAD Drawings and therefore there is absolutely no waiting time. Dimensional data is provided in English and Metric units also to simplify the use of the provided drawings.

Effective with shipments beginning November 15, 2010, AC output standard S1 style Crydom brand SSRs, that utilize standard screws and clamps for wire termination, will have the hardware installed at the factory on the relays and it will no longer be shipped separately in bags. This will also mean a change in the SSR unit box configuration from one with a separate hardware pocket on the end to a slightly shorter and somewhat higher box.

Crydom will endeavor to minimize mixing configurations (installed verses bagged hardware) within the same model number shipment, but be aware that from the effective date until roughly the end of 2010, some AC output models may continue to be shipped with bagged hardware until our pipeline is fully converted to installed hardware.

Crydom believes that installing the hardware on the SSR will better insure that the end customer always receives SSRs with the correct and complete hardware set. However,if there are customers that prefer the hardware delivered separately, Crydom will gladly support an adapted SSR with hardware shipped in bags, either individual sets or bulk.
